Muzammil to face Abid, Aqeel plays Shahzad in semis of 31st Federal Tennis Cup
Sara Mansoor, Sarah Mahboob Khan, Noor Malik and Ushna Suhail win their quaterfinals to face each other in the semifinals to be played at S.Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex, Islamabad.
Some quality tennis was at display at S.Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex, Islamabad as the Davis Cup team trio of Aqeel Khan, Shahzad Khan and Muhammad Abid played their quarterfinal matches of the 31st Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championships at S.Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex, Islamabad.
5th Seed Muzammil Murtaza an upcoming youngster from South Punjab made the major upset when he eliminated 3rd seed Heera Ashiq of Lahore in well contested two set match. Both the players displayed good tennis and Muzammil won both the sets at tie break by playing some powerful shots down the lines. Muzammil Murtaza will face 2nd seed Muhammad Abid from Lahore in the second semi final.
2nd seed Muhammad Abid outplayed Aman Attique of Islamabad in one sided affair at 6-0 6-2. Top seed Aqeel Khan brushed off young Muhammad Shoaib in straight set 6-1 6-1. Aqeel will face 4th Seed Shahzad Khan in the first semi final at Center Court at 9:30 AM. Shahzad Khan won his encounter against Mudassar Murtaza in another excellent match of the day in three sets.
Sara Mansoor, Sarah Mahboob Khan, Noor Malik and Ushna Suhail qualified for the semi finals by eliminating their respective opponents. 2nd Seed Ushna Suhail was in fine touch and won her encounter against Oreen Jasia of Peshawar without conceding a single game in both sets. Top seed Sara Mansoor won her match against Mehvish Chistie without any resistance at score of 6-2, 6-1. Sara Mansoor will face Sarah Mahboob in first semi final; whereas Sarah Mahboob beat Mahnoor Sohail 6-0 6-0. Noor Malik of Lahore made another upset and beat Khunsha Babar of Lahore in thrilling three set match 6-2, 4-6, 7-5, she will face Ushna Suhail in the 2nd semi final.
Yousaf Khan, Hamza Bin Rehan, Talah Bin Asif and Muhammad Shoaib moved into the semi finals in the Boy’s U-18 Singles by winning their respective matches. Un seed Talah Bin Asif from Kamara caused major upset by eliminating 3rd seed Asadullah Khan of Peshawar in a three set match.
