YONEX SUNRISE Pakistan International Series commences today

YONEX SUNRISE Pakistan International Series begins in Islamabad today where 29 international players from 10 countries will participate. The event is planned to proceed till Sunday 12th November 2017.

 

Fereral Minister for Inter-provincial Cooperation (IPC) Mian Riaz Hussian Pirzada inaugurated the opening ceremony of Pakistan International Series at Liaquat Gymnasium Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad.

In his inaugural address, he welcomes all the participants from all over the world and he also wish them luck. He also appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Badminton Federation for conducting the mega international event.

In Men’s singles category 18 international and 17 local players are participating in the qualifying round while 12 local and 16 international players are participating in Men’s doubles category. 4 international and 2 Pakistani players are participating in women singles events whereas 2 each international and Pakistani players are participating in the mixed doubles event.

International players are happy with the arrangements of the event and they are hopeful for the bright future of the game in Pakistan. A number of local players are also taking part in the competition and they will gain experience and expertise in the game after playing with foreign players. Currently, 5 players are through to the main round after succeeding in qualifying round.

It is pertinent to mention here that the price money of the tournament is US$ 8,000. Winners of Men/Women competitions will get US$ 600 while runner-ups will get US$ 304. Winners in Men/Women categories and Mixed doubles will awarded by US$ 630 and the runner-ups will get US$ 304 each.
