7th Chief of Naval Staff Golf Championship starts tomorrow
Pakistan Navy to host 7th chief of Naval staff Armature Golf Championship from Friday 10th November to Sunday 12th November at Lahore Garrison Golf and Country Club Course.
Station commander Lahore S.M Shahzad in a media talk was of the view that it is going to be 7th continuous year of championship and for the 7th edition, Garrison Golf Club has been chosen as host of the championship. He further said that Pakistan navy endorsed the Garrison golf club for its popularity.
The event was acquired reputation and excellence and all the stake holders are trying hard to ensure the arrangements are handled in a great way. The conference was also attended and addressed by Brig (r) R.Bajwa Chief Referee of the Championship, Khawaja Pervaiz Saeed, Director Media and Lt Cmdr Kashif of Pakistan Navy at the Garrison Golf Club.
S.M Shahzad also said the positive aspect of the championship is that it’s open for all armatures. Top players from all over the country are participating in the event. He also regards the sponsors like Brighto Paints, Turkish Airlines and Askari Bank for giving their part in promotion of the game in the country. A big attraction is the prize of a car for a hole in one, he added.
Khawaja Pervaiz Saeed said that event seeks to create an opportunity whereby they can apply their golfing skills in a way that the scores they attain help them to get noticed at the national level and subsequently represent the country in international competitions. He said that armatures with a handicap of 12 and below can participate in the event. Top competitors in the events will be Wazir Ali, M.Rehman, Zhoaib Asif, Fakhar Imam, Zunair Aleem, Robin Bagh, Ahmed Zafar Hayat , Mohsen Zafar and Ahsan Khawaja.
Another category in the event will be senior amateurs and in this category people aged 55 years or more and having handicap of 14 or below can participate. Seniors will be competing on 10th and 11th November. He also announced the event for ladies and gradually their numbers are increasing with every passing year.
Last but not the least category is of juniors which will be played over 09 holes on 11th November. But then there are some very determined ones who have urge to appear as the challengers.
