KPK thrashes Punjab in the final of Pentangular U-19 T20 Cup
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) in the final of Pentangular U-19 T20 Cup defeated Punjab by 15 runs and wins the tournament played on the Round Robin bases at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Punjab after winning the toss invited KPK in the final match of Pentangular U-19 T20 Cup. KPK in allotted 20 overs scored 148 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Opener Mohammad Arif played brilliantly for his 69 runs on just 51 balls. He smashed 7 boundaries and 2 huge sixes. Hamza Khan (Sr) scored 23 runs and Mukhtar Ahmed remained not out on 18 runs.
Mohammad Suleman Shafqat took 3 wickets for 31 runs in 4 overs for Punjab. Ihsan Ullah got 2 while Momin Waqar and Nasir Nawaz received 1 wicked each.
In reply, Punjab U-19 team only managed to score 133 for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Ramis Mustafa scored a half century with the help of three 4’s and 4 huge 6’s on just 32 balls but could not help his team to win the match. He was run out on 53 runs. Only Faisal Ali 22 and Mohammad Suleman Shafqat 15 not out showed some resistance against the good bowling of KPK. 8 batsman of Punjab did not enter in the double figures.
Azam khan and Arshad Iqbal took 2 wickets for KPK while Mohammad Ilyas and Hamza Khan got 1 wicket each. KPK team won the final by 15 runs. Mohammad Arif from KPK was declared the Man of the Final Match.
Mohammad Ilyas of KPK got 9 wickets in tournament while Azam khan took 8 wickets. Abdullah Shafiq of Punjab scored 180 runs while Mohammad Waqar Ahmed scored 176 in th tournament.
