Shoaib & Saqib win doubles title; Singles' Finals of McDonalds National Junior Tennis Championships 2017 tomorrow
Top seed Shimza Tahir won the Girls under 18 singles title whereas the unseeded Haseesh Kumar from Karachi is the new Boys under 14 Singles champion.
The duo of M. Shoaib & Saqib Umer beat Asad ullha & Aqib Umer in straight sets to win the Under 18 Doubles title of McDonalds National Junior Tennis Championships 2017. The final score of the decider was 6-3, 6-4.
The unseeded Haseesh Kumar from Karachi, who has earlier dislodged top seed Sami Zaid in the semifinal, made his impression by winning Boys under 14 Singles title against Hamid Israr in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-2.
Girls under 18 Singles title was already booked for Lahore with both the finalists from Lahore dominated the draw throughout and reached the final without conceding a single game in the tournament so far. The final between the top seeds was expected to be a close match and it live up to the expectations as it went to a full stretch. Esha Jawad won the fist set 6-4 but suffered injury halfway into the second set which cost her the second set as she lost 7-5. Shimza Tahir then made the break early in the third set as the match run into the third hour. Shimza made no mistakes and played safe as she held her serve to win the set, and championship, with a score 6-4.
Top seed Saqib Umer and 3rd seed Asad ullah will vie for the top honor tomorrow in the boys U-18 singles as they beat their respective opponents in straight sets here at Pakistan Sports Complex tennis courts Islamabad. In the first semifinal Saqib Umer beat Ahmed Asjad in straight sets 6-3,6-4 by breaking one game each in both sets. In the second semifinal Asad ullah defeated 2nd seed M. Shoaib in a well contested two set match at score 6-3,7-5.
