South Africa beat Pakistan to win Hong Kong world 6’s

South Africa defeated Pakistan by 2 wickets in the final match of Hong Kong World sixes tournament 2017 played at Kowloon Cricket Club.

Defending South Africa in a thrilling match defeated Pakistan to end their winning streak in the Final match of Hong Kong Super Sixes tournament and grabbed the trophy. The match was played at Kowloon Cricket Club ground.

South Africa won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat first. Pakistan team was bowled out in 4.5 over and gave the target of 124 runs in allotted 5 overs. Sohail Khan with the help of 5 sixes and three boundaries scored 46 runs while Hammad Azam scored 41 runs with 3 maximums and 5 boundaries. Sarel Erwee took 2 wickets for 25 runs.

South Africa chased the target for the loss of 4 wickets on the final ball of given 5 overs. Sarel Erwee scored 39 while Aubrey Swanepoel scored 38 runs not out to cross the line and won the final match and the tournament by 2 wickets.

Earlier, Pakistan defeated Australia in the semifinal by 35 runs. The Green Shirts scored 115 runs for the loss of two wickets in five overs after they were put into bat by Australia.

In reply, Australia could score only 80 runs on three wickets in five overs. In first semifinal, South Africa had defeated New Zealand Kiwis by 18 runs.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan, England and South Africa have won 5 tournaments each, the most by any team. Australia, Sri lanka, West Indies and India won 1 tournament each. South Africa was also the winner of last tournament played in 2012 while Pakistan was runner-up of same event.
