Islamabad United and Multan Sultans are gearing up for an epic showdown in the PSL 9 final, set to take place at Karachi's National Bank Stadium on March 18th. The battle will see table-toppers Multan Sultans facing off against Islamabad United for the prestigious Orion Trophy.
The much-awaited clash is scheduled to begin at 9 pm, with the Toss happening at 8:30 pm.
Multan Sultans, having secured their spot in the final by defeating Peshawar Zalmi in the Qualifier, are no strangers to the big stage. This marks their fourth consecutive final appearance, having been crowned champions in the 2021 edition and finishing as runners-up in the subsequent two editions.
On the other hand, Islamabad United, after clinching victory over Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi in the two eliminators, have earned their place in the final. This final marks their return since their last triumph in 2018.
In the lead-up to the playoffs, Multan Sultans have been dominant, securing 14 points from seven wins out of ten games. Islamabad United, meanwhile, notched up five wins, with one match against Lahore Qalandars being abandoned due to weather conditions, leaving them with 11 points.
Key players to watch out for include Mohammad Rizwan and Usman Khan from Multan Sultans, who are among the top run-scorers in the tournament. Colin Munro and skipper Shadab Khan have been instrumental for Islamabad United, both with the bat and ball.
Usama Mir leads the bowling attack for Multan Sultans and is currently the highest wicket-taker of the tournament, closely followed by Mohammad Ali, their right-arm pacer. For Islamabad United, Naseem Shah has been pivotal with the ball.
Both captains, Shadab Khan and Mohammad Rizwan, have expressed confidence in their teams ahead of the final, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and execution.
