PCB announce details of New Zealand series ahead of T20 World Cup
New Zealand will tour Pakistan for a five-match T20I series, beginning next month.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Wednesday, March 13th that the New Zealand Men's cricket team is scheduled to visit the country in April for a five-match T20I series.
The series is set to take place from April 18th to April 27th, with the Blackcaps arriving in Pakistan on April 14th to undergo training and practice sessions ahead of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in June.
This will mark New Zealand's third visit to Pakistan in the last 17 months. The previous visits occurred in December 2022/January 2023 and April 2023 for Test matches, ODIs, and T20Is.
During the 2022-23 Test series, the matches concluded in a 0-0 draw, while New Zealand clinched the ODI series 2-1. The T20I series ended in a 2-2 draw, with Pakistan emerging victorious in the ODIs with a 4-1 win.
Earlier this year, Pakistan visited New Zealand and faced a 4-1 defeat in the T20I series.
The first three T20Is of the upcoming series will be held in Rawalpindi, followed by the remaining matches in Lahore.
Usman Wahla, Pakistan's Director of International Cricket, expressed delight over the bond between PCB and New Zealand Cricket (NZC) and emphasized the significance of the series in the buildup to the ICC T20 World Cup.
The schedule for the series is as follows:
- April 14: New Zealand team arrives in Pakistan
- April 16-17: Training/practice sessions
- April 18: 1st T20I in Rawalpindi
- April 20: 2nd T20I in Rawalpindi
- April 21: 3rd T20I in Rawalpindi
- April 25: 4th T20I in Lahore
- April 27: 5th T20I in Lahore
