Margalla Hills Half Marathon Draws 200 Runners in a Display of Unity and Athleticism
The Margalla Hills Half Marathon highlighted the power of sports to unite people from different backgrounds and promote a culture of fitness and well-being.
The 3rd Margalla Hills Half Marathon, organized by the Margalla Trail Runners (MTR) club at the Margalla Hills National Park, witnessed a diverse participation of 200 runners. Held annually in Pakistan, this unique half marathon features an uphill route through the picturesque Margalla Hills in the capital city, Islamabad.
Sponsored by Season Canola and supported by prominent organizations, including Fatima Group, Hiker.pk, Spaceman Studios, Optimize Digital, and nibl foods, the event concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation. The route spanned from the Trail at the backdrop of Margallah Hills, through Margallah Ave to Daman-e-Koh, passing Monal, and concluding at the border crossing into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at Pir Sohawa, covering an elevation of 800 meters.
Despite the challenging elevation, the runners experienced ideal weather conditions, making the Margalla Hills Half Marathon a memorable event. Various clubs and age groups, including the Margallah Trail Runners club, Islamabad Running Club, Islamabad Run with Us, Falcon Triathlon Club, Critical Mass Lahore, Hiker.pk, and Pakistan Road Runners, participated. Additionally, representatives from the diplomatic community from the USA, UK, Canada, Netherlands, and the Philippines contributed to the event’s success through their enthusiastic involvement.
The winners, Faizan Zulfiqar and Sehr Ali, showcased exceptional endurance and skill. Faizan Zulfiqar completed the Half Marathon in 1 hour 25 minutes and 55 seconds, securing the first position in the men's category. Sehr Ali led the female athletes with a time of 2 hours and 37 minutes.
