Punjab Plans to Cut Health Budget to Boost Sports Development
The minister emphasized the construction of sports complexes in all cities of Punjab to promote sports among the young generation.
PMLN's Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, the newly-elected Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports in Punjab, has outlined plans to decrease the health budget in favor of promoting sports. In a press conference held in Lahore, the minister emphasized the goal of making the sports ministry highly active, to provide sports facilities to every child in the province.
Khokhar highlighted the current scenario where the health budget surpasses the sports budget, expressing the intention to allocate more funds to athletes by reducing the health budget. The minister shared his vision of creating an environment that nurtures sports talent and encourages widespread participation.
As part of these initiatives, Khokhar announced plans to promote traditional games and assured that funds allocated by Punjab's Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, would be utilized to train athletes for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.
Khokhar emphasized the construction of sports complexes in all cities, aiming to replicate the success of existing facilities in Lahore.
