Pakistan Goes Big in the Opening Day of Asian Open Taekwondo Championship
9 Gold for Pakistan while Nepal secured one Gold.
At the Asian Open Taekwondo Championship held at the Liaquat Gymnasium in the Pakistan Sports Complex, Pakistani athletes displayed remarkable performances in the poomsae discipline on a Wednesday. National representatives secured nine gold medals out of ten bouts, while Nepal claimed a single gold medal.
In Poomsae's U-30 mixed pair event, Pakistan's Flower Zaheer and Anas clinched the gold with a score of 7.48 points. Ammar and Fatima from the Higher Education Commission received the silver medal with 6.71 points, while Sindh's Shafi and Ulma secured the bronze with a score of 6.43. Zain Hasan and Latif from Nuces University also earned a bronze medal with a score of 6.39.
In the mixed pair event for participants over 30, Ali and Shafaqat of Pakistan WAPDA secured the first position with a score of 6.59. Ali and Bashir of Pakistan claimed the second position with a score of 6.26, followed by Changaizi and Kausar of Punjab in third place. Farhan and Hajra of Sindh earned the fourth position in this category.
The men's under-30 team event saw Pakistan's Qadeer, Waheed, and Hussain winning the gold with a score of 7.48 points. Pakistan Army's Shehzad, Didar, and Ahmed secured the silver medal with 7.36 points. WAPDA's Khalid, Abbas, and Ayub claimed the bronze, and Army's Tariq, Gul, and Jameel also earned a bronze medal.
In the men's over-30 team category, Pakistan's Hussain, Mumtaz, and Ali secured the first position with a score of 6.98. Army's Haq, Mehmood, and Waqas stood in second place with a score of 6.79. WAPDA's Ali, Saleem, and Akhtar earned third, while Saudi Arabia's Albane, Al-Madali, and Al-Abbas secured fourth.
In the women's under-40 individual event, Mehru-Nisa of Pakistan claimed the gold medal, while Aqajira Nawab from Sindh secured the second bronze.
In the Men's Under-40 Individual Event, Pakistan's Shahbaz Ahmed finished in the first position, followed by Saudi Arabia's Mohammad Ali Al-Abbas in second place. Pakistan's Mudassar Hussain secured the third position, and Saudi Arabia's Salman Ali Al-Albane claimed fourth.
In the Men's Under-30 Individual Event, Nepal's Ashmin Raut secured the gold medal, and Pakistan's Aqdus Ullah received the silver. Hasan Alam from Sindh earned a bronze medal, and Pakistan's Ahmed Shahzad also claimed a bronze.
In the women's under-30 individual event, Naila of Pakistan secured the first position, followed by Kinza Fatima in second place. Izha Rehman earned the third position, and Yamna Bint Khalid secured the fourth bronze medal for Pakistan.
