The 2018 Commonwealth Games bronze medalist, Talha had lifted 150kg in the snatch to go second in the field, whereas in the clean & jerk round despite failing in the first attempt, he managed to lift 170kg weight in the third attempt.
The gold medalist of 2019 SAF Games & Bronze medalist of Asian Weightlifting Championship in 2021, Talha Talib was second after the snatch as he sought to end his country’s 29-year wait for a medal in any Olympic sport but he failed his first clean and jerk lift and collapsed on stage soon after. After medical staff rushed to his aid, he returned to lift twice more and placed fifth.
Chen Lijun kept China’s perfect record in weightlifting with victory in the men’s 67-kilogram class at the Tokyo Olympics with collective weightlifting of 332kgs whereas Columbia’s Mosquera Lozano Luis Javier and Italy’s Zanni Mirko finished on the second and third spot after lifting weights of 331 and 322kgs.
