Asian Men Hockey: Pakistan qualifies for the Round Robin
Pakistan, India, have qualified for the second round of the Men Asia Cup along with Malaysia in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The fourth slot will be decided today where South Korea and China will play in Group B. South Korea only needs a draw while China needed to win to play in the medal round.
India beat Pakistan 3-1 to top Group A, on Sunday. Pakistan and Japan ended the group stage on four points, but Pakistan advanced on a better goal average. It was India's third consecutive win against the Green Shirts this year
As Japan had just managed only a 3-1 win over Bangladesh in their last pool match earlier on Sunday, pressure was somewhat off Pakistan. The only way they could deprive themselves of the Super Four spot was to lose against India by more than nine goals.
In second round, the top teams from both the pool will play in round-robin format before the knockouts.
