Leisure Leagues takes the Capital by storm
An initiative aimed for improving the game of football in Pakistan taken by the Trunkwala Family through Leisure Leagues gets lots of attention from the youth of Islamabad.
With a great debut season in a city where small-sided football gets a lot of chances, the second edition of Leisure Leagues has gotten bigger and better with some truly talented teams showcasing the world that when it comes to football, there is no shortage of talent, only opportunities.
At present, three venues in Islamabad are hosting the leagues with 24 teams competing for the title of the best team in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
As things stand, leagues taking place in Chak Shahzad and Ayub Park are almost at the halfway stage while another league kicked off this Sunday in E11. With teams coming from Mardan, Attock and Kamra, Islamabad is definitely the place to be.
Race for the title of league champion is also not a foregone conclusion at Ayub Park where the likes of SMD, Spartans, Kamra and Minhas are promising to take the title assault down the wire.
At Chak Shahzad, it appears that MIFA, buoyed by the presence of enigmatic striker Frank, are tearing away competition. However, with 8 matches still left to play, the title is up for grabs.
The Stadium E-11 league is going to be a tightly contested affair with every single team, regardless of their opening day results, showing enough to suggest that whoever wins this league, will give the other champion teams from the other venues a run for their money.
Leisure Leagues has succeeded in getting the best out of some of the most talented teams in the city and the upcoming match day promises to be filled with some truly amazing performances as the league gathers further momentum.
