Pakistan to start Asia cup hockey drive today
10th
Asia Cup Hockey tournament kick starts from today in Dhaka’s Maulana Bhashani
Hockey stadium
All the four teams of Pool A will be in action on the opening day of the tournament. India to play with Japan in the 1st game of the tournament while Pakistan will be facing hosts Bangladesh in their opening game. Match between Pakistan and Bangladesh will start at 4:30 PM (PST).
This will be the 5th time the two teams will face each other in Asia cup, where Pakistan have won all the previous four games and even without conceding a single goal. However, Bangladesh gave tough time to Pakistan when the two teams met last time in the Asia cup staged in Dhaka in 1985 when Bangladesh conceded only one goal in the tightly contested match. That time Pakistan was the undoubted king of the field hockey and holds the titles of Olympic, World Cup, Asian Games and Asia Cup.
Though, Pakistan team is lacking some confidence
but Captain Muhammad Irfan is hopeful to show good stick work in entire
tournament.
