Sultans starts campaign with 9 initial pre-draft picks in PSL3

The new franchise is in its team building process under the guidance of sultan of Swing Wasim Akram and head coach Tom Moody.

The Sultans elected three left-arm pacers Sohail Tanvir, Mohammad Irfan and Junaid Khan. Multan-born batsman Sohaib Maqsood will be playing from his home city in the third season of the HBL Pakistan Super League. He is joined by leg-spinner Irfan Khan and left-arm spinner Kashif Bhatti to make up Multan’s nine picks.

“Multan Sultans have gone for experience and a strong Pakistani core with this selection,” said Asher Schon, President Multan Sultans. “We would like to welcome the first nine Sultans on board and we can’t wait for the main draft to build on this selection.”

The addition of the sixth team also increases the number of games that will be played in the third edition of the Pakistan Super League. The previous two seasons of the PSL saw a sum total of 24 games played but this season, there will be 34 matches. Eight of those games during the league stage could be hosted in Pakistan while the final of the tournament will also be played in Lahore/Karachi.
