Sohail Tanvir may not be a regular part of Pakistan’s international cricket team but makes his selection count when it comes to T20 leagues around the world.

While playing for Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), he made T20 history by bowling the most economical bowling spell while completing his full quota of overs.

Tanvir managed figures of 5 for 3 and was literally unplayable throughout his spell. He also set the record for the most economical 5-for in a T20 match. It is to be noted that this includes all T20 matches played between international or domestic (league) teams.

Barbados Tridents suffered a crucial loss after Sohail Tanvir went through their batting lineup like a knife goes through butter. Tridents managed only 19 for 5 by the end of the Powerplay after Sohail Tanvir ripped apart their batting lineup and managed 4 for 2 in his opening spell.

He returned soon after to cap his fifth wicket and complete the most economical bowling spell in T20 history. Alongside his last wicket, he ended a sorry and forgetful night for the Tridents, which were bowled out for just 59, the second lowest total in CPL.

More Details On The Record Breaking Bowling Spell

Tanvir was unplayable during the Powerplay. The two runs which were scored against him during the first spell came of an edge to third man and a wide ball down the leg side. When bowling over the wicket to right-handed batsmen, he was getting massive movement in the air and off the pitch.

He started his first over by beating the bat’s edge of the great Kiwi batsman, Kane Williamson, four times. His agony soon ended as Williamson got caught in the same over.

He started his second over with another edge straight down the slip’s throat. However, the fielder spilled it and Dwayne Smith was given another life. That didn’t last long as Smith got caught the next ball.

English Captain Eoin Morgan’s season debut lasted just one ball as we was trapped in front of the stumps during Tanvir’s third over. The same over saw the wicket of Kieron Pollard, who had just replaced Morgan. He was adjourned caught behind after edging an out-swinging ball to Luke Ronchi.

Tanvir was almost bowled out but luck was with him as took Wahab Riaz’s wicket on the last delivery of his bowling spell finishing it with a five wicket haul and an economy rate of just 0.75.

The cricketer was very happy with his performance and tweeted about his performance soon after the match.
