Missing climbers on K2: Mohammad Ali Sadpara, John Snorri, Juan Pablo declared dead
The three missing climbers Muhammad Ali Sadpara, Iceland's John Snorri Sigurjónsson and Chile's Juan Pablo Mohr Prieto were officially declared dead in a press conference attended by the families and friends of the climbers in Skardu.
Mohammad Ali Sadpara is not a well-known name or face in Pakistan, but from delivering rations as a porter on Siachen to achieving one of the greatest feats in modern mountaineering, he has come a long way.
He is the only Pakistani to have climbed eight of the world's 14 highest mountains, and he made the first ever winter ascent of the world's ninth highest peak, Nanga Parbat.
But Sadpara will be remembered as a versatile climber by the international community of mountaineers, and a hero in his native Pakistan.
The three missing climbers Muhammad Ali Sadpara, Iceland's John Snorri Sigurjónsson and Chile's Juan Pablo Mohr Prieto, who went missing on Feb 5 near the Bottleneck on K2 as they attempted to reach the summit of the Savage Mountain, are officially declared dead on 18th February in a press conference attended by the families and friends of the climbers in Skardu.
