Khyber Pakhtunkhwa notches up KP U16 National Games 2020 title!
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa claimed the trophy by securing five gold medals and five silver medals in the U16 National Junior Games which concluded successfully in Peshawar.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U16 National Games 2020 concluded successfully under the auspices of Directorate of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Peshawar.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa crowned the champions KP U16 National Games 2020 by etching their name on five gold and five silver medals.
Punjab claimed two gold medals, three silver medals got second position. Sindh bagged the third position with one Gold medal and as many silver medals.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Farman graced the ceremony as a chief guest and distributed prizes along with Secretary Sports Abid Majeed, DG Sports Asfandyar Khan Khattak, Director Operations Syed Saqlain Shah, Chief Coach Shafqat Ullah.
The Under-16 National Junior Games included seven males and four women's Games in which Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won gold medals in men's volleyball, badminton, table tennis, football and squash, silver medals in athletics and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in women's competitions.
In Female Games, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won silver medals in table tennis, badminton and athletics and played an important role in the success of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Punjab won gold medal in athletics and hockey, silver medal in volleyball, squash and secured second position, Sindh won gold in women's table tennis, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won silver medal and Azad Kashmir won gold in women's volleyball.
In women's badminton competitions, Balochistan won gold and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won silver medals. Similarly, in women's athletics, Punjab won gold and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won silver.
More than a thousand players from Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, WAPDA and the Army took part in these competitions organized by Directorate of Sports KP.
Trials were held in seven Men’s and four Women’s competitions in all the 35 districts and the best players were selected for the training camp who were trained under qualified coaches for 10-days.
In the final selection Khyber Pakhtunkhwa teams for the Under-16 National Junior Games was selected and the selected players showed tremendous performances against strong teams. It is worth mentioning here that Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr. Kazim Niaz officially inaugurated the Games with the aim to search out new talent at grassroots level.
