After being coached by Army coaches Asif will further improve his skills: Col Sadaf
Col Sadaf has announced that Pakistan Army will try its best to turn a long jumper Asif’s talent into an international standard to help him earn medals for Pakistan.
Asif Magsi, an ambitious long jumper from Thatta, has captured the attention of Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) after his recent videos went viral on social media.
The 21-year-old young man made a long jump over 11 whole motorbikes without his feet touching any of them, while in another video, he has jumped over a lake covering an extensive distance with a Pakistani flag in his hand. Both the videos got immense attention as a lot of fans posted about the overnight sensation.
And like WAPDA and the Athletics Federation of Pakistan, Army also started an attempt to search out the talented boy.
Secretary Army sports Col Sadaf disclosed to Dawn that after the video circulated around the web the Army Sports Secretariat received instructions from different units of Army.
“Asif was finally spotted as a young boy belonging to Thatta, Sindh and he is 20 years old,” Col Sadaf said.
“The range of his long jump is around 21 feet and hopefully after being coached by Army coaches, Asif will further improve his skills,” Col. Sadaf said, adding Asif arrived at Rawalpindi on Thursday night on a plane. He said Asif needed improvement in his muscular strength besides learning the finer points of the game through Army coaches.
“Army will try its best to turn Asif’s talent into an international standard to help him earn medals for Pakistan,” Col Sadaf added.
