Mohammad Amir to join Pakistan squad for England series
The Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed fast bowler Mohammad Amir will join the Pakistan men’s national cricket team in England following the birth of his second daughter last week.
Fast bowler Mohammad Amir has been inducted into the Pakistan squad for the England tour after paceman Haris Rauf’s latest Covid-19 test came in positive.
Amir had earlier withdrawn from the series to be with his wife for the birth of their second child. However, after the birth of his daughter just four days ago, Amir announced his decision to re-join the side.
The paceman had already undergone one COVID-19 test. The PCB conducted Covid-19 test of Amir on Monday along with that of masseur Mohammad Imran. And if their initial tests are negative, they will then appear for a second test on Wednesday. And if the duo clear the tests their departure is possible later this week.
Chief selector-cum-head coach Misbah-ul-Haq contacted Amir — from Derby where Pakistan is currently playing a four-day intra-squad match — on Sunday and after getting his consent he requested the PCB to begin the process for Amir’s departure to England.
