Arslan 'Ash' leads charge against PUBG ban, thinks decision will hurt pro gamers and esports
Pakistan’s top (eSports) gamer criticized the ban imposed by PTA on PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) as he shared his thoughts about it.
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) banned PUBG citing suicides by a number of gamers in Pakistan.
The ban was widely criticized by all segments of the society, and 2019 player of the year Arslan 'Ash' Siddiqui voiced gaming community's case.
While sharing his thoughts about the PUBG ban through a 10 minute video message, the 24-year-old eSports professional highlighted the impacts this ban have on the gamers while specifically mentioning teams' Pakistan inability to compete in upcoming World Finals of an international PUBG tournament.
"This ban will limit earning for many who work from home by associating with eSport"
Redbull athlete, Arslan focused his message on the lack of support for eSports and neglect to the gaming community. He also shared the hurdles faced by gamers' and the new difficulties added by the PTA ban. The gaming ace requested the government to lift the ban and let the gaming community thrive by facilitating sponsors and foreign investors who are interested in hiring talent from Pakistan.
"The ban will add to the difficulties faced by eSports community which is already hit by current corona virus crisis"
Arslan said that this ban on PUBG discourages gamers and limits international exposure for the local talent.
"Sponsors will be discouraged from supporting local gamers"
Arslan summed up his message by encouraging government to support gaming as it will help reduce unemployment, bring foreign investment and sponsorships for gamers, and fame to Pakistan at international level.
