PESHAWAR MAKE CLEAN SWEEP IN U-23 GAMES
Peshawar made a sweep in the KP Under-23 Peshawar Regional Inter-District Male and Female Games which concluded here at two different venues
Peshawar made a sweep in the KP Under-23 Peshawar Regional Inter-District Male and Female Games which concluded here at two different venues on Sunday.
In the 15 discipline of the male Peshawar got the titles of all while in female Peshawar girls secured victories in 12 out of total 13 disciplines.
Director General KP Sports Board Miss Rashida Ghaznavi was the chief guest at the final and prize distribution ceremony of the female at BISE ground while Director Operation Tariq Mehmood distributed trophies and cash prizes among male players at different venues inside Qayyum Sports Complex.
Syed Saqlain Shah and Raham Bibi were the organizing secretaries at male and female events wherein a total of a 1000 male and female players took part in 13 female and 15 male events played on different venues under the aegis of Directorate of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In the male event Peshawar got the trophies of cricket, hockey, football, volleyball, badminton, squash, table tennis, athletics, basketball, judo, karate, taekwondo, boxing and gymnastic by securing 150 points, District Nowshera took 11 silver medals and four bronze by securing 67 points and remained at second while Charsadda got four silver and three bronze medals by recording 32 points.
On the last day in athletic events Peshawar claimed the athletic trophy by winning eight gold medals, eight silver and one bronze by recording 67 points, followed by District Charsadda with one gold, two silver and seven bronze by securing 18 points and Nowshera with only seven points got third position.
Abid Ali was declared as best athlete who won gold in 100m, 200m and long jump by securing 21 points, Paras Ahmad took one gold in Javelin throw and two silver medals in High Jump and Discus throw by recording 17 points, Zohaib two gold medals in shot put and discus throw.
In the overall female games Peshawar won 12 gold medal and one silver by securing 125 points, followed by Nowshera with one gold, and 10 silver medal with two bronze medals got 66 points, Charsadda got two silver and three bronze medals by securing 19 points.
In the hockey male hockey match played at Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium Peshawar defeated Nowshera by 4-0 and Charsadda by 5-0 to win the trophy. Vice President Muhammad Saeed Khan was the chief guest on this occasion who gave away trophies and cash prizes of Rs. 15000 to winners and Rs 10,000 to runners-up.
In female Taekwondo Peshawar took seven gold, one silver, Nowshera got one gold, three silver and four bronze medals and Charsadda won four silver and four bronze medals. Peshawar recorded 77 points, Nowshera (51) and Charsadda (48). In Wushu Peshawar secured 91 points, Nowshera 62 and Charsadda 33 points. In volleyball Peshawar beat Nowshera by 25-21, 25-23 and 25-21.
Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony DG KP Sports Board Rashida Ghaznavi disclosed that on the instruction of Additional Chief Secretary Azam Khan, the Inter-Region Men and Women Games will be commencing from April 26 at different venues for which arrangements have already been kicked off.
She said with Peshawar Region Games, the first phase of the Games completed in all districts across KP and hopefully good and strong teams would come up in Inter-Regional Male and Female Games
