Asian Bradman Zaheer Abbas has lauded the appointment of Younis Khan as the national team’s batting coach, saying the players would learn a lot through from the prolific player who also won the 2009 World Twenty20 under his captaincy.
“I am very happy to see Younis Khan being appointed as the batting coach of Pakistan team,” said Zaheer.
“He is an experienced batsman and I hope the players will learn from his experience on how to bat on English wickets.”
“Younis has a lot of experience and his expertise in batting will be vital for the players to learn more about adapting on the England wickets,” said Zaheer who score over 5000 runs in Tests and is among the select band of players to have scored 100 First Class centuries.
The former International Cricket Council (ICC) President said he would want to see the behaviour of the wickets in England as there has been no play there for quite some time now due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “The matches will be very interesting. It won't be easy for Pakistan to win against the English team in England,” he said.
Speaking about the young and prolific batsman Babar Azam, Zaheer, who scored 2,572 runs in 62 ODIs, said the Lahore-born cricketer would do well in England.
“Babar should not take any kind of pressure and must focus on his batting as we need him as our mainstay in the England series,” he concluded.
