Women’s football defender Malika Noor has turned her focus to kickboxing in a bid to remain fit during lockdown.
The vice-captain of the Pakistan women's national football team, Malika plays as a defender for the Pakistan Army football team and as a midfielder for the national team.
The 25-year-old, Malika is getting training under the supervision of her husband Ehtisham Karim, who is also a MMA coach.
“My alternate sport these days is kick-boxing and I have done this before. My husband is a MMA coach and I am doing kick-boxing and training with him. It is good for your cardio. Along with padwork, I am also doing my usual training to keep myself fit,” she said.
Noor, who scored the 89th-minute winning goal from the penalty spot in Pakistan's first competitive victory, at the 2010 SAFF Women's Championship, also reads books related to football to keep herself busy in the lockdown.
“I am trying to keep myself busy and take time out for exercise, at least 30 minutes in a day and doing football drills, so that I keep myself fit for the time when I am back on the field.”
