Former Olympian Islahuddin Siddiqui said that the greenshirts now have to work very hard if they are to return to winning ways.

“Before the match (against India), I thought we have an edge against them since Pakistan had defeated India twice a couple of months back,” Islah told PPI.

“Pakistan should have taken the advantage after the equaliser. But it was India who gathered themselves and scored more goals, while our team remained at the receiving end,” he said.

“We need to strengthen our defense and establish a better combination of our forwards,” he added.

Islah said that more junior players should have been part of the team for the tournament. “The junior team will feature in Junior World Cup this year and I feel we should have kept that in mind before selecting the national team for Azlan Shah Cup.”
