Shoaib into the final of Islamabad International Junior Tennis Championship 2020
Pakistan's fast rising tennis star Mohammad Shoaib reached the finals of the Syed Dilawar Abbas Memorial ITF Pakistan Junior Tennis Championship at the PTF Complex on Thursday after defeating Nepal’s Aryan Giri in the boys singles semi-final.
Top seed of the Syed Dilawar Abbas Memorial ITF Pakistan Junior Tennis Championship, Mohammad Shoaib, reached the final after comfortably disposing Nepal’s Aryan Giri in the boys singles semi-final.
The 18-year-old Shoaib will face Turkey’s second seed Gokalp Ayar in the final who overcame compatriot Kerem Ozlale 6-3, 6-1.
Shoaib was comfortable throughout his match, winning the first set 6-4 by breaking the ninth game of his opponent. He kept the same pressure in the second set to take a 4-0 lead by breaking the first and third games of Aryan before taking the set 6-1.
Meanwhile, unseeded Leyla Nilufer Elmas of Turkey won the girls singles title after eliminating top seed Ren Ke of China.
In an exciting final that went to all three sets, Leyla won the first one 8-6 in a tie-break. The close battle continued in the second set which Ke eventually won 6-4.
The final set saw long rallies and many aces as Leyla finally broke the ninth game of Ke to win the match that lasted two hours 28 minutes.
The Turkish pair of Ayar Goklap and Mustafa Sancaklioglu won the boys doubles title as they outplayed Romania’s Belea and Qwyn Quittner of Australia 6-2, 6-3.
Leyla Nilufer Elmas and Mina Togdulkdmir, both of Turkey, clinched the girls doubles final against Nepal’s Abhilasha Bista and Neyara Weerawansa of Sri Lanka 7-5, 2-6, 11-9.
