Steel Town Gymkhana, Northern Gymkhana register emphatic wins in Prof. Ejaz Farooqi invitational
Abdul Rauf and Nadeem Javed played match winning knocks to steer their respective sides to dominant wins as Prof. Ejaz Ahmed Farooqi invitational cricket tournament continued at various grounds of Karachi.
A swashbuckling century from opener Abdul Rauf inspired Steel Town Gymkhana to a commanding 223-run victory over Rahbar Sports during the All-Karachi Prof Ejaz Ahmed Farooqi Invitation Cricket Tournament fixture at the Pak Star Ground.
Batting first, Steel Town Gymkhana finished with a massive total of 436-8 in the stipulated 45 overs. Steel Town Gymkhana launched their innings in blistering fashion as Rauf and Shaukat Ali put on a 167 run partnership for the first wicket.
Rauf hit 16 fours and 1 six to score 112 off 79 deliveries while Shaukat blasted 14 fours and 3 sixes in his 54-ball knock of 78. Akhtar Ali struck seven boundaries to finish with 45.
Rahbar Sports, in reply, succumbed to the leg-spin of Toufiq Ahmed to be dismissed for 213 in the 39th over with Mohammad Usman being the prominent scorer with 46 runs.
