Hafeez clears bowling protocols, eligible to bowl in ECB competitions again

Pakistan's veteran all-rounder, Mohammad Hafeez has become eligible to bowl in competitions organised by England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) after clearing the bowling tests conducted at Lahore University of Management Sciences, Lahore.

The England Cricket Board (ECB) has cleared the bowling action of former Pakistan captain and Middlesex all-rounder, Mohammad Hafeez resulting in the 39-year-old now being allowed to bowl in England’s domestic competitions.

Hafeez was banned after being found guilty of exceeding the 15 degree elbow limit while bowling off break deliveries. He underwent an independent assessment at Loughborough University and was banned by the ECB from bowling in any of the competitions held under its umbrella.

The veteran all rounder recently underwent another assessment at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) after changing his action. After his elbow extension was found within the tolerance limit, the ECB proceeded to lift the ban.

Hafeez has been a staple of Pakistan's spin bowling ever since his inclusion in the national team but surprisingly, this is not the first time that his bowling action has been reported. He has, however, managed to get clearance to bowl again everytime.

His action was reported for the first time in 2005. In 2014 ICC slapped a 12-month ban on Hafeez for the similar offence.

In 2016 Hafeez made a comeback with a remodeled action but was once again banned in 2017.

After clearing the protocols again he remains eligible to bowl in international competitions.
