Aqib, Zoha, Nadir, Zohaib win titles at McDonald’s National Tennis Championships 2020

Aqib Khan of SNGPL emerged victorious in a three-set thriller in juniors U-18 singles final of McDonald’s National Tennis Championships 2020 at the DA Creek Club, Karachi.

The fifth edition of McDonald’s National Tennis Championships 2020 concluded successfully at the DA Creek Club, Karachi.

Aqib Khan of SNGPL, who belongs to a famous tennis family from Nawakille village near Peshawar, emerged victorious in a three-set thriller in juniors U-18 singles final when he beat Mahatir Muhammad of Sindh Club 6-7, 6-3, 6-2 while in the girls U-18 singles final, Pakistan number one Zoha Asim outplayed Nataila Zaman 6-0, 6-0

In boys under-12 singles, Karachi’s Nadir Mirza beat Peshawar’s Hamza Roman with 4-0, 4-0. Boys U-10 was also a three-set match which was won by Zohaib Malik of Lahore 5-3, 0-4, 5-3.

Farrukh Salahuddin Head Southern Region Operations McDonald’s was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. The weeklong championship also organised by Reza Mirz Tennis Academy under the auspices of the Sindh tennis Association and the Pakistan Tennis Federation.

Ex-Davis Cupper Khawaja Saeed Hai was also present on the occasion. Reza Mirza, the tournament director and himself an international tennis player, announced that the sixth edition of Mcdonald’s Tennis Championship will be held at same venue from Feb 26.

PTF vice-president Khalid Rehmani announced that the 61st SSB Development Series Ranking Tennis Championships will be held at the Tando Jam Agriculture University from Feb 13 followed by an inter-school event in March.
