Mohammad Ijaz edges past Usman with elegant 136 break 45th National Snooker C'ship
Mohammad Ijaz, a sibling of former country’s top cueist Mohammad Sajjad, who hogged limelight by capturing NBP Cup in the past, stole limelight yet again with an elegant break of 136 in the fourth frame while routing Usman Ahmed on second day of 45th National Snooker Championship at Karachi Gymkhana.
Former Asian champion Hamza Akbar made his first appearance on the domestic circuit after five years while sixth seed Mohammad Ijaz was on song scoring a blistering century break of 136 on the second day of 45th National Snooker Championship at Karachi Gymkhana.
Hamza, also a former national champion, sent Islamabad qualifier A. Sattar Khan packing 4-1 (65-36, 68-10, 40-65, 82-0, 71-16) to make a winning start.

This was the second century break of the day after Sheikh Mohammad Mudassir’s 115 against Nazeer Ahmed as Sindh’s Abdul Sattar and Punjab’s Babar Masih also conjured up breaks of 131 and 113 respectively to take the tally to four.
Unseeded Shahid Aftab pulled off first upset when he rallied to overcome fifth seed Sohail Shahzad of Sindh in the fully stretched battle 69-37, 41-67, 0-75, 53-87, 64-52, 74-55, 80-11.With the exception of Sohail, other seeded players continued their unbeaten run.
