Unseeded Huzaifa stuns seventh seed Ahmed to move into Federal Cup quarters
Unseeded Huzaifa Abdul Rehman caused a major upset as he eliminated seventh seed Ahmed Chaudhry in straight sets 7-5, 6-0 to move into the 33rd Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championships 2020 quarter-final at the PTF Complex, Islamabad.
In the ongoing 33rd Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championships 2020, unseeded Huzaifa Abdul Rehman caused a major upset as he eliminated seventh seed Ahmed Chaudhry in straight sets to move into the quarter-finals at the PTF Complex, Islamabad.
The first set started on a high note as Huzaifa managed to hold onto his respective serves and went on to level the score at 3-3. Huzaifa held his own serve and then broke the eighth game of Ahmed and built up 5-3 lead and continued his aggressive approach to win the first set 7-5.
After winning the opening set, Huzaifa took the second set without conceding a single game by hitting a number of impressive cross court and down the line winners. Huzaifa now faces Mudassir Murtraza in the quarter-final of men's singles.
Another unseeded player Barkatullah eliminated fifth seed Yousuf Khalil in the first round in a well contested and thrilling match 7-6(4), 6-4 and easily defeated Shakirullah 6-2, 6-3 in the pre-quarterfinal.
Top seed and veteran campaigner Aqeel Khan won his last-16 encounter against Mohammad Shoaib 6-4, 6-4 while second seed Muzammil Murtaza ousted Jibran-ul-Haq 6-4, 6-4 in their pre-quarterfinal.
Other seeded players Mohammad Abid, Shahzad Khan and Heera Ashiq registered straight sets wins. Abid faces Shahzad while Heera meets Muzammil in the quarter-finals.
