Sarah Mahboob & Sara Mansoor annex 33rd Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis C'ship ladies doubles title
Pakistan’s no 1 tennis player Sara Mansoor and Sarah Mahboob annexed the ladies doubles title in the 33rd Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championship 2020 beating Meheq Khokar/Noor Malik (ZTBL) in straight sets in the final played at Senator Dilawar Abbas PTF Complex, Islamabad.
A total of 17 matches were played in the ladies doubles, men’s singles and doubles categories, where all the seeded players advanced to the second round of 33rd Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championship 2020 at Senator Dilawar Abbas PTF Complex, Islamabad.
Pakistan’s no 1 tennis player Sara Mansoor and Sarah Mahboob annexed the ladies doubles title, as they beat Meheq Khokar/Noor Malik (ZTBL) in straight sets in the final.
The ladies doubles final between Sarah/Sara and Mehaq/Noor was the most anticipated game of the day. Both Mehaq and Noor gave the veteran pair some tough resistance in both sets but eventually had to settle for the second place.
The first set started with both pairs producing top class tennis as they battled to gain the upper hand. Sarah/Sara managed to break fifth game of Mehaq/Noor to take first set 6-3 in 33 minutes.
The second set was also played on a high tempo as Mehaq/Noor were giving their opponents tough time as they were matching fire-with-fire and came very close to breaking the top seeds at number of occasions. Eventually their lack of experience showed as they failed to take the advantage of the opportunities. The veterans needed no second invitation as they broke the ninth serve of Mehaq/Noor and then held theirs to win the second set 6-3 in 43 minutes to win the title.
In men’s singles first round, top seed Aqeel Khan routed Ejaz Ahmed. Aqeel took the first set 6-2 by breaking second and fourth serves of Ejaz and then he went onto take the second set 6-2 by breaking the fourth and sixth games of Ejaz.
Meanwhile, 18-year-old Muhammad Shaoib thrashed Muhammad Abdullah 6-1, 6-0.
