Unseeded Hoor Fawad set for tough challenge against top seed Hareem in Karachi Table Tennis Championship final
Hoor Fawad and Hareem Anwar blasted their way into the final of women’s singles of the Karachi Table Tennis Championships at Islamia Club, Karachi.
Promising Hoor Fawad continued her impressive run from where she had left when she stunned second seed Atiqa Khan to set women’s singles title clash with top seed Hareem Anwar in the Karachi Table Tennis Championship at Islamia Club, Karachi.
Unseeded Hoor, who created quite a stir while routing third seed Maria Tazeem the other day, hogged limelight once again as she sent Atiqa packing 11-8, 11-3, 4-11, 11-3, 11-8 in the semi-final where she faces Hareem who was home straight 11-4, 11-5, 11-4, 11-7 against unseeded Aisha Zafar in the other pre-final.
Hareem is on course for a double crown having already pocketed the women’s team event title.
Upsets galore continued as three seeded players, top seed Atta Abbas, second seed Hussain Virani and fourth seed Farhan Hashim crashed out in quarter-finals at the hands of unseeded players.
Talented Aahil Shah struggled to whip Atta in agonising match 10-12, 11-6, 11-7, 9-11, 8-11, 11-9, 14-12. Arsalan Alvi shocked Hussain 7-11, 11-8, 11-6, 7-11, 12-10, 8-11, 11-6 while Saim Adnan routed Farhan 11-7, 11-6, 11-7, 12-10.
Defending champion and third seed Furqan Patel remained in contention by cruising into the last four defeating Mehdi Raza 11-8, 16-18, 11-4, 11-8, 11-5 in the quarter-final.
