Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Inter-College Girls Games from 11th February
Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Inter-College Girls Games will commence from February 11 till March 31 at different venues with all the affiliated colleges of the University vying for the top honor.
Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Inter-College Girls Games will be commencing from February 11 at different venues where all the affiliated colleges with the University would vie for the top honor.
Deputy Director Sports Miss Marriyyah Samin said that this year they are going to hold events like Baseball, Volleyball, Judo, Badminton, Table Tennis, Cricket, Basketball, Athletics while as per the approval of the house Football and Netball have been included as well.
The Games will continue till March 31st, 2020.
This was decided in an annual general council meeting with Vice Chancellor Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women, Professor Dr. Razia Sultana in the chair. Deputy Director Sports Shaheed Banezir Bhutto Women University Mariyyah Samin, Principal City Girls College and President SBBWU Sports Committee Professor Shaheen Umar, Vice President Miss Robina Khan, Principal Girls College Tangi, Members of the Executive Committee Miss Najma Qazi, Miss Sadia Gul, Miss Asheen Khan, Miss Rohina, Miss Huma and Miss Laila, Head Coach SBWU and international cricketer Salma Faiz, Director Physical Education, Lectures in Physical Education and Sports of various participating colleges were also present.
Speaking on this occasion, VC Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana appreciated the eagerness shown by all the affiliated colleges with the University and assured that the University would utilize all its services for providing best facilities to the players.
Playing sports contributes to physical development, coordination, cardiovascular health and numerous other benefits associated with disease prevention, she said, adding “Physical activity can help ward of chronic diseases including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, hypertension, obesity, depression and osteoporosis.”
She said taking part in sports will improve your general health and well being as playing sports helps reduce body fat and helps control your body weight. Sports allow you to gain the satisfaction of developing your fitness and skills as it can help you fight depression and anxiety.
“We are trying our best to provide due facilities to our students as most of the our colleges affiliated with us are from the recently merged tribal areas and we want to encourage them so that they should come and take active part, VC Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana said.
She said, Sports are a crucial part of a student’s growth and development. They help in the development of mental health and physical fitness of the body. The University not only aims to improve a student's physical abilities but also instill a sense of good sportsmanship in them.
For sure, playing sports is a generally a fantastic way to improve your fitness and health. Many of us may not feel at home pounding away on a treadmill or working up a sweat in the gym, but we’ll happily chase a ball around endlessly while playing a game of some sort, Dr. Razia Sultana further added.
She also assured all the colleges that they have coaches and if any college needs coaching facilities the University will be very pleased to send their coaches to the colleges besides providing sports equipment for training and coaching purposes.
