St Paul’s High school wins NBP inter-school cricket tournament

St Paul’s High School beat St Patrick’s School by five wickets to win the NBP Inter-school cricket tournament at the National Bank Sports Complex Cricket Ground.

St. Paul’s High School won the NBP Inter-School cricket tournament by overcoming St Patrick’s School by five wickets at the National Bank Sports Complex Cricket Ground.

Saad Abdul Rehman was declared the man of the match after he cracked 77 runs for St. Paul while also chipping in with one wicket.

St. Patrick’s School won the toss and elected to bat first but could only muster 108 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 Overs.

Shoaib Hussain contributed the most to his sides score with 55 off 59 balls, eight of which went for four. Emad Ali Khan contributed 22 off just 19 balls with two fours.

Shasahwar Danyal (2-13) was the most successful bowler for St Paul’s while Saad Abdul Rehman, Muhammad Bilal and Bharat Chohan took one wicket each.

In reply, St. Paul High School chased down the target in 17 overs thanks to the Saad Abdul Rehman’s 77 off just 55 balls. His innings was helped by nine boundaries and four sixes.

Shoaib Hussain (2-15) and Muhammad Sufyan Khan (2-30) did their best for St Patrick's but could not prevent their side from losing.

NBP group head SEVP Tariq Jamali was the chief guest on the occasion and presented the winner’s trophy to St. Paul’s captain. NBP Sports Head Iqbal Qasim, Javed Ashraf , Iqbal Wahid, Saeed Azad, Anwer Farooqui and Azmatullah Khan were also present on the occasion.

Tariq Jamali lauded the standard of matches played in the tournament and emphasised that countries are built due to the constructive approach of the students and sports plays a key role in developing that approach. He also announced holding of football, hockey tournaments as well in the future and lauded Iqbal Qasim and his team for holding the tournament in a befitting manner.
