Dhoraji Super League Season 5 begins

4 matches were decided on the opening day of Dhoraji Super League season 5 with Dhoraji Riders, Knights, Royals and Daredevils winning their respective fixtures at Little Master Hanif Muhammad Cricket Ground, Karachi.

Dhoraji Super League (DSL) season 5 began at Little Master Hanif Muhammad Cricket Ground, Karachi on Sunday with Dhoraji Riders, Dhoraji Knights, Dhoraji Royals and Dhoraji Daredevils picking up their first wins of the tournament.

In the first match of the day between Spartan and Riders, the riders easily won the contest by 9 wickets.

After being put into bat, Spartans managed to score 135 runs for the loss of 8 wickets from allotted 9 overs on the backs of Osama Sheikhani's 37 off 9 balls and Abdullah Kaludi's 34 off 13 balls. 

For Riders, Subhan Bidiwala managed to pick up 4 wickets for 26 runs.

In reply, Sufyan Bhangari and, one down, Ahmer Kunda hit 65 and 59 runs respectively to chase down the target for the loss of just one wicket. 

Sufyan, in his innings, hit 7 sixes and 3 fours off 27 balls while Ahmer managed to hit the exact same number of boundaries off 15 balls to help their side to a dominant win.

In the second game of the day, Dhoraji Knights defeated Challengers by 7 wickets.

After electing to bat first, Challengers posted 118 runs on the board with the loss of 4 wickets. Umair Nagaria managed to score 40 of 24 balls for his side while Saifullah Makda added 31 runs from 14 balls with the help of 3 sixes and 3 fours.

In reply, a man of the match 63 off 20 balls (8 sixes and 2 frous) by Azeem Godil handed a 7 wicket win to Knights. He was well supported by Rahil Sawani who made 37 off 15 balls.  

The third game saw a clash between Dhoraji Royals and Stars in which the latter prevailed by a slim margin of two runs.

After deciding to bat first, Royals posted a decent total of 124 runs for the loss of 3 wickets from their 9 overs. 

Saad Pothiawala struck a magnificent 72 not out off 26 balls that included 8 sixes and 5 fours. 

Chasing a daunting total, Stars fell 2 runs short of the target scoring 122 runs for the loss of 6 wickets from their 9 overs. Their batsmen could not string together partnerships and kept getting out at the wrong time for their team.

Arshad Bhadelia tried his best to see his side through with a 17 ball 47 but could not succeed. 

In the last game of the day between Daredevils and Blasters, Daredevils prevailed easily by 8 wickets.

Blasters put 114 for 4 on the board after winning the toss and batting first. Usman Naviwala scored 58 runs off 25 balls with the help of 6 sixes and 3 fours. 

In reply, a solid opening partnership between Noman Saya and M. Alam Bhimani ensured an easy 8 wicket win for Daredevils. The two scored 30 and 35 runs respectively.

Talha Bhangaria also struck a 13 ball 34 to contribute to his sides win.
