8 teams to feature in 12th National Women’s Football Championship final round
Total Eight teams will be seen in action in the final round of the 2019 National Women’s Football Championship, which begins January 1st at two different venues in Karachi.
KPT and Karachi United Stadiums will host matches of the final round of 12th National Women’s Football Championship, which will begin from 1st January and will culminate on January 12th.
Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) is hosting the championship for women with an aim to promote the game of football among women and bring the talented players to the limelight.
The national championship offers an opportunity for the female players to showcase their talent and secure their respective place in Pakistan women’s national team.
The qualifying round of the championship started from the last week of November and were held in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad. A total of 20 teams participated in the qualifying round in all three cities. The qualifying rounds offered opportunities to new and young players to become a part of the national circuit and get valuable experience after playing against some of the more established teams.
As many as eight teams have qualified for the final round which namely are: Army WFC (Defending Champions), WAPDA WFC, Karachi United WFC, JAFA WFC, Diya WFC, Gilgit Baltistan WFC, Punjab WFC and Karachi Kickers WFC.
The teams are divided into two groups of four teams each and after round robin matches the top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals.
