NBP inter-school cricket tournament to start from tomorrow

National Bank of Pakistan is holding an inter-school cricket tournament which will begin its proceedings from tomorrow (28th December) and will continue till 12th January 2020 at NBP sports complex and Al-Burhani Ground, Karachi.

The NBP Inter-school cricket tournament will be held in Karachi and will commence from 28th December 2019 and will conclude on 12th January 2020.

The tournament is part of NBP’s celebration for completing its 70 years as a leading bank of the country. 

Announcing the details of the tournament in a press conference at the NBP Sports Complex on Thursday, former Test spinner and bank’s Sports Head, Iqbal Qasim said the tournament has been organised to motivate schools students to take interest in the game and try and excel at this level so that they can later represent Pakistan at the international level.

“Sixteen teams from leading schools in the metropolis will be participating in the NBP inter-school tournament and they have been divided into four groups and every team will get three matches,”.

NBP’s Shaukat Mahmood Khattak, Iqbal Wahid, Javed Ashraf, Anwar Farooqi, Ibne Hasan and Azmatullah Khan were also present at the press conference.

The tournament will be played under PCB’s T20 rules and the umpires on cricket board’s panel will officiate the tournament,” he said. “Also, former players who represent NBP in cricket will be the referees in the matches.”

He further announced prizes and trophies for the winners, runner-up and distinguished performers such as best bowler, best batsman and best wicketkeeper.

NBP Sports Complex will stage most of the matches of the tournament while three matches will be played at Al-Burhani Ground.

The schools participating in the competition include:

Karachi Grammar School, Habib Public School, St Patrick’s School, The Academy, St Paul’s School, Qamar bin Hashim School, Al Nadi Al Burhani School, American School Clifton, Oasis Public School, Beaconhouse School, Education Fountain, Usman Public School, Patriot School, The City School, SOS School and Falconhouse Grammar School.
