The country’s first league for boxers will be held in March next year, this was announced by Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) President, Khalid Mahmood.
Khalid Mahmood, President Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) has announced to hold the country’s first league for boxers in the month of March next year, where both professional and amateur contestants would be eligible to participate.
This league's main purpose is "to raise funds to make arrangements for improved training of our boxers". The league will be held to promote amateur boxing in a professional manner.
According to Khalid, a good number of boxers at the national level participating in competitions needed a good number of activities, adding the said league would be one of those opportunities.
Meanwhile, Khalid, who is also Secretary of the Pakistan Olympic Association, dispelled the impression that parallel bodies were working in different national sports federations.
He said the POA was following the policy of recognizing all those national sports federations, which were affiliated with their international bodies.
“The national sports federations of judo and cycling are not affiliated with the POA because they are not following the POA constitution.” said POA Secretary.
