National Bank of Pakistan T20 Blind Cricket Trophy (Grade-1) commences

On the first day of NBP T20 Blind Cricket Trophy G-1, Peshawar, Bahawalpur, Azad Kashmir and Islamabad beat their respective opponents at various venues of Bahawalpur.

Peshawar, Bahawalpur, Azad Kashmir and Islamabad beat their respective rivals on the first day of the National Bank of Pakistan T20 Blind Cricket Trophy (Grade-1) which commenced on Wednesday.

Bahawalpur vs Gujranwala:


A fine century from opener Mohammad Rashid (115 runs off 65 balls) helped Bahawalpur beat Gujranwala by 76 runs in the inaugural match of the event. 

After being put into bat first, Bahawalpur posted 236 for the loss of four wickets runs in 20 overs. Rashid, who was later named man-of-the-match, was assisted by Zafar Iqbal who made 46 runs.

Gujranwala in reply, could post just 160 for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted overs.

Mohammad Akram made 84 runs off 57 balls in a losing effort.

Babar Ali and Sajid Nawaz claimed three wickets each while Mohammad Ijaz took two to help their side seal the win.

Azad Kashmir vs Okara:

In the second match of the day, Azad Kashmir defeated Okara by 30 runs at the Sadiq Public School ground.

After being invited to bat first, Azad Kashmir strolled to 193-5 in the allotted overs as Nisar Ali smashed a magnificent century (110 off 64 balls).

In response, Okara could accumulate 163 runs for the loss of nine wickets to fall short of the target.

Iftikhar Tiger top scored with 62 for his side.

Mohammad Jameel claimed three wickets while Nisar Ali bagged two for Azad Kashmir. For his brilliant all-round show, Nisar was named man-of-the-match. 

Islamabad vs Lahore:

At Dring Stadium Bahawalpur, Islamabad overpowered Lahore by 17 runs.

Islamabad with the help of centuries from Anees Javed (138 not out off 68) and Ayub Khan (104 off 48) amassed 282-3 in the 20 overs after being put to bat first.

Kamran and Salman claimed a wicket apiece for Lahore.

Lahore’s Matiullah cracked a brilliant century (126 off 65) but his team ended the proceedings at 265-7, 17 short of the final target.

Anees, Hasnain and Akmal claimed a wicket apiece for Islamabad. 

Anees for his efforts was awarded the man of the match award.

Peshawar vs Karachi:

In the final game of the day, Peshawar outplayed Karachi by nine wickets.

After electing to bat first, Karachi could post a meagre 129-9 in 20 overs. Tahir (62) remained their top scorer.

For Peshawar, Mohsin Khan took three wickets and Rahidullah two.

Peshawar in reply successfully chased down the target in 11 overs for the loss of only one wicket. Sanaullah, the man-of-the-match, made 65 off 40 balls and Moha­mmad Waseem collected 34.
