Advantage Sri Lanka after first day of the second test

Lahiru Kumara and Lasith Embuldeniya took four wickets each to dismiss Pakistan for a below par 191 on the first day of the second test match between the two sides at National Stadium, Karachi.

Lahiru Kumara and Lasith Embuldeniya took eight of Pakistan's ten wickets between them to dismiss Pakistan for 191 on the first day of the second test match between the two sides at National Stadium, Karachi.

Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, Pakistan was bowled out for 191 in 59.3 overs.

Asad Shafiq, Babar Azam and Abid Ali were the only batsmen to make double figure scores for Pakistan making 63, 60 and 38 runs respectively.

Pakistan were jolted early when Vishwa Fernando bowled opener Shan Masood and captain Azhar Ali in the space of three balls.

Abid Ali and Babar Azam settled down after early jitters to add 55 runs for the 4th wicket before the opener Abid Ali became Kumara's first victim of the day via a LBW. The opener managed to score 38 before being dismissed.

Babar found support from Asad Shafiq next as the two managed to string some runs together. 

Embuldeniya had Babar stumped on 60 to leave Pakistan at 127 for 4.

Asad remained steadfast in his approach but kept losing partners at the other end. Haris Sohail failed once again with the bat, scoring just 9 runs.

In the final session Lahiru Kumara rocked Pakistan once again sending back Mohammad Rizwan and Yasir Shah on successive deliveries. Soon after, Shafiq skyed an edge on 63 becoming Kumara's fourth wicket before Pakistan's innings to was wrapped on 191.

In reply, Sri Lanka were 64 for 3 when the stumps were drawn.

Oshada Fernando and captain Karunaratne kept Pakistan's bowlers at bay for 6.1 overs before Fernando was caught behind off Sheen's bowling with the aid of a review.

Sri Lanka looked comfortable with Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis at the crease but Mohammad Abbas accounted for both the batsmen on 25 and 13 to stunt Sri Lanka's confidence.

Angelo Mathews and night watchman Embuldeniya saw out the day with Sri Lanka at 64 for 3.
