Zakir Hussain Memorial Hockey Tournament 2019: Semifinal line-ups
Zakir Academy, ARL, Bundha club and Islamabad Tigers defeated their respective opponents to move into semifinals of Zakir Hussain Memorial Hockey Tournament 2019 being held in Shehnaz Sheikh Hockey stadium, Rawalpindi.
The Zakir Hussain Memorial Hockey Tournament 2019 is being held under the supervision of District Hockey Association in Shehnaz Sheikh Hockey stadium, Rawalpindi.
The semi-finals of Zakir Hussain Memorial Hockey tournament would be played today (Thursday).
In the first quarterfinal match Zakir academy defeated Shaadman club by 6-2 where Rizwan of winning team scored a wonderful hat-trick.
In the second match ARL defeated Fighter club by 7-3 while the in third match Bundha club defeated Civil Defence by 4-3. In the last quarter final, Islamabad Tigers won their match against Faisal Club by 6-4 and qualified for the final.
The tournament is being held as a tribute in the memory of Zakir Hussain, a legend in the world of hockey, former Olympian and the hero of the Mexico Olympics 1968.
Zakir Hussain was a Pakistani field Hockey player who won a gold medal at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City and a silver medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne.
He is also remembered for participating in the 1958 Tokyo and 1962 Jakarta Asian Games.
