Talented squash players Asim Khan, Farhan Zaman, Farhan Mehboob, Tayyab Aslam coasted their way into the quarterfinals of the ongoing Serena Huawei Pakistan International Squash Tournament 2019, being played at the Mushaf Squash Complex, Islamabad.
77th ranked in the World, Asim got off to the best possible start against Curtis Malik of England as he won the opening game with a huge margin of 6 points. Lahore-born Asim continued his aggressive approach in the second game as he began to rattle off the points to test the movement of Curtis and eventually won the game at 11-7.
Asim continued to hit all of his targets with clean precision to win the encounter with the final score line of 11-5, 11-7, 11-9.
Now Asim is up against top seed Egyptian Youssef Ibrahim.
In the most thrilling pre-quarterfinal of the day, eight seed Farhan Mehboob outperformed compatriot Amaad Fareed by 3-2 with the final score line of 7-11, 11-5, 5-11, 11-7, 11-5.
Meanwhile, Tayyab Aslam ended wildcard entrant Noor Zaman’s journey, winning the contest 3-0. The final score line was 11-8, 13-11, 11-5.
Farhan Zaman caused the biggest upset of the day as he stunned fourth seeded Mazen Gamal by 3-2 with the final score line of 11-13, 11-9, 3-11, 11-2, 12-10.
