2nd Inter-Club Ladies Golf Championship successfully wraps up
PAF Skyview Golf Club team clinched the title victory of Inter-Club Ladies Golf Championship 2019 which successfully concluded at Royal Palm Golf & Country Club in Lahore.
The Inter-Club Ladies Golf Championship successfully marked its second edition which concluded at Royal Palm Golf & Country Club in Lahore where a number of prestigious golfing clubs took part.
With an aggregate gross of 261, the PAF Skyview Golf Club team consisting of Humna Amjad, Suneya Osama, Shahzadi Gulfam and Shehnaz Moeen, took home the title victory of the event while Ana James Gill of the host club earned the title of Individual Net in the handicap category 0-13.
Ana was followed by Ghazala Yasmin of Garrison Golf Club on the runner up spot while Humna stood the Gross winner ahead of PAF Skyview team-mate, Suneya.
Shabana Waheed collected Net category win in the 14-24 handicap class, finishing ahead of Dr Fauzia Umber and Shahzadi took the Gross honors ahead of Tehmina Rashid.
The handicap category 25-36 witnessed Syeda Laiba Sha annex the Net title and Minaa Zainab clinched Gross title.
At the conclusion of the 2nd Inter Club Ladies Golf Championship, Miss Kathaline Macdonald, Political and Economic Chief, US Consulate and Miss Kelly Kopcial, Counsellor US Consulate, distributed prizes among the high achievers in the presence of Ayesha Hamid, Tournament Director, Minaa Zainab, Tournament Coordinator and Col Jameel Khalid, Director Golf Royal Palm Country Club.
Earlier in her welcome speech, Tournament Director, Mrs Ayesha Hamid stated,
“The idea of holding the Lahore Ladies Inter Club Tournament was suggested by Dr Asma Shami, Chairperson Ladies Golf in Pakistan, on behalf of the Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF). I am thankful to the lady golfers for their enthusiastic participation. The tournament was conducted strictly according to R&A rules and similarly, golf etiquette were fully adhered to.”
Dr Asma Afzal Shami praised the initiative of Mrs Ayesha Hamid saying,
“This has created yet another opportunity for the lady golfers of Lahore to hone their golfing skills in a competitive environment.”
While unveiling the ‘Vision 2020’ for ladies golf in Pakistan, Dr Shami said that it is being planned to hold a Ladies Inter Association Golf Tournament between PGA, SGA and FGA, under the banner of the Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF). She further elaborated that this would also include a separate category for junior girls who are under 14 years of age.
