Pakistan loses first ICC Women's Championship match against England

Pakistan women's cricket team lost the first of three games of ICC Women's Championship against England by 75 runs at Kinrara Academy Oval, Kuala Lumpur.

Pakistan women's cricket team lost their opening fixture of ICC Women's Championship against England at Kinrara Oval Cricket ground, Kuala Lumpur by 75 runs.

In the first of three one day internationals, England women won the toss and decided to bat on a flat track.

The decision paid dividends as England's opening pair of Tammy Beaumont and Danni Wyatt batted for 33 overs sharing a 188 runs opening stand between them.

Wyatt was aggressive from the get go, hitting Pakistan's bowlers all over the park. Pakistan's strategy to persist with spin did not work against her either as she calmly stroked her way to a hundred off 86 balls hitting boundaries at will.

Beaumont, in contrast, was more methodical in her approach. Scoring most of her runs through well placed singles and doubles. She eventually got to her century as well before being dismissed for 107 off 141 balls. Her innings included 9 fours.

Wyatt was England's first wicket to fall in the innings on 188. She was caught and bowled by captain Bismah Maroof on 110 off just 95 balls. Her innings was helped by 12 fours and 3 sixes.

Tammy Beaumont was dismissed by Rameen Shamim as England's second wicket fell on 248. England's captain, Heather Knight, managed to score 41 before getting out as the rest of batting lineup did not have much to do.

England women's team finished with 284 runs on the board for six wickets.

For Pakistan, Rameen Shamim managed to pick up 3 wickets for 61 runs as all the bowlers struggled to contain the flow of the runs.

Chasing a daunting score, Pakistan women's team lost their way from the start as both the openers were dismissed inside three overs for five runs in total. Nahida Khan was bowed for 4 by Shrubsole while Sidra Ameen was trapped LBW by Brunt on 1.

Javeria Khan and Bismah Maroof provided some respite by stitching a small partnership together which was broken by Kate Cross who bowled Javeria for 19 with Pakistan's score being 39.

Cross eventually finished with figures of 4 for 32.

Bishmah found support again, this time from Umaima Sohail, but the required rate kept creeping up as England bowled with discipline and allowed no regular boundaries.

Umaima fell to Natalie Sciver for 29 after a 67 runs partnership with Javeria Khan.

Javeria, with the help of Nida Dar, managed to add more runs to Pakistan's total but when she fell to Cross for 69, the result was mere formality.

Aliya Riaz managed to hit a quickfire 39 but the result was never in doubt as Pakistan women's team was eventually dismissed for 209 while chasing 285 conceding the game by 75 runs.

Danni Wyatt was awarded the man of the match for her incredible innings.
