Pakistan earns 8 Golds, 6 Silvers and a Bronze in Wrestling & Weightlifting events of South Asian Games 2019
Wrestler Inam Butt and weightlifters, Nooh and Hanzala Dastagir alongside other Pakistani wrestlers and weightlifters added to Pakistan's medal tally of the on-going South Asian Games 2019 which are being held in two different cities of Nepal.
13th South Asian Games (SAG) Kathmandu, Nepal.Star wrestler Inam Butt, who featured in 92 KG weight category of the wrestling event, was up against an opponent from Bangladesh in the quarterfinal round, who he defeated successfully to book his place in the semi-final stage.
In the semifinals he overcame his opponent from Sri Lanka to further extend his journey towards the gold medal in the final bout. Inam then convincingly defeated his Nepali counterpart in the final round to successfully defend his title, earning yet another gold for the country.
While other wrestlers to grab golds for Pakistani stood Inayat Ullah who earned gold in 70 KG weight competition while Abdul Rehman triumphed with gold medal victory in 79 KG weight class.
Tayyab Raza (97 KG) and Zaman Anwer (127 KG) bagged silver medals while Inam’s compatriots: Mohammad Bilal and Umair Butt won silver medals as well after falling in the finals of the 61 KG and 86 KG weight classes, respectively.
Total seven wrestler from Pakistan featured in the 13th SAG where three of them clinched gold while four earned silver medals.
Muhammad Inam to his victory said,
“I used the double leg technique to finish the game. Whenever I play for Pakistan, I have this wish to carry the country flag high and I'm grateful to Almighty that he gave me this opportunity to do the same this time as well. I'm grateful to all my supporters' love and prayers. I'll keep trying to play for Pakistan and to make the nation proud. Pakistan Zindabad."
While Pakistan's Weightlifting squad is coming home with a total of 5 Golds, 2 Silvers and 1 Bronze Medal.
After the first bronze in Weightlifting event by Adbur Tehman in 89 KG weight class, the Dastagir brothers were imperious in the weightlifting arena where Nooh claimed a gold in +109 KG contests after lifting a total weight of 380 KG and Hanzala topped with lifting in 331 KG of total weight in 109 KG weight competitions.
Talha Talib also did not disappointed the country as usual, Capturing a gold in 67 KG weight class and Hairder Ali alongside Usman Amjad collected two more golds in 81 and 102 KG weight categories.
The silver medalists are: Abu Sufiyan (73 KG) and Rabbia Razzaq (87 KG).
