Pakistani karatekas finish their South Asian Games 2019 journey with 6 Golds
Pakistan's talented karate athletes grabbed 2 more golds to take final tally to 6 in total at the end of their journey at13th South Asian Games which are being held in Kathmandu, Nepal.
After Saadi Abbas, Pakistan’s highly talented fighter Nouman Ahmed also snared a gold in -50 KG weight class alongside Nargis, Kulsoom, Sana Kausar and Sabira, who together claimed another gold in Women's Team Kumite category.
These two gold medal wins made it a total of six gold in karate event of 13th South Asian Games where Pakistani Karatekas have finished their journey with impressive victories.
After her silver medal yesterday, Nargis added one more silver in -68 KG karate competition.
The first two Golds for the country came from Shahida and Mohammad Awais in Individual Kata and 85 KG weight classes, respectively and then Saadi Abbas, featuring in -75 KG category, grabbed one more gold.
Pakistani Karate squad then also claimed three Silver and four Bronze on the first day of competitions and then the next day added four silver and one bronze to their tally with Zafar Iqbal earning silver in 60 KG, Naseer Ahmed in 67 KG, Sana Kausar in 55 KG and Kulsoom in 68 KG while the bronze was snared by Naz Gul in 61 KG.
Overall Pakistan ended its journey in Karate event with 6 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze medals.
A senior official of Pakistan Karate Federation (PKF), Mohammad Jehangir from Kathmandu said that only one male and two female fighters could not manage gold.
“Every one in the rest of the lot was among gold medals.”
The Pakistani Karate squad will return home today and will be having extended reception at the PSB Coaching Centre in Lahore tomorrow.
