Tennis squad seals 1 Silver & 1 Bronze in South Asian Games 2019 team events
Pakistan tennis squad delighted the masses by their talents during 13th edition of South Asian Games 2019 as they won one Silver and one Bronze in the men's and women's team event respectively.
Pakistan tennis squad's talent was on full display during 13th edition of South Asian Games 2019 as team won Silver and Bronze in the men's and women's team event respectively.
Men's tennis squad bagged silver after they lost the final to a strong Indian side. Earlier, Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka and Bhutan to book a berth in the final in the team's event.
The women’s team, on the other hand, managed to win bronze for their efforts after beating Nepal in the third place playoff. Pakistan women's team had to fight for the bronze as they were beaten by Sri Lanka in a hard-fought battle by 0-3 in the semifinals. Sri Lankian team put a shiny start as Anika Seneuriatne routed Mahin Aftab Quershi by 6-4, 6-4 while Ushan Suhail lost to Anjalika Kurera by 6-1, 6-1 and Anika Seneuriatne along Anjalika Kurera defeated pair of Mahin Aftab Quershi & Ushna Suhail by 6-3, 6-2.
"Unfortunately we lost in the finals today but really proud of my team mates Aqeel khan, Muzammil Murtaza and Muhammad Abid for fighting till the very end and really happy I was able to play my part in helping us win Pakistan's first silver in tennis event." Aisam said.
Aisam also Congratulated women's team comprising of Ushna Suhail, Sarah Mahboob Khan and Mahin Aftab Qureshi for winning the bronze.
