Pakistani Taekwondo athletes grab 1 Silver & 4 Bronze medals at 13th South Asian Games
Pakistan managed to collect one silver and four bronze medals in Taekwondo event of South Asian Games 2019 which are being held in Kathmandu and Pokhara, Nepal.
Pakistani Taekwondo athletes are yet again making the nation proud as they have already captured one silver and four bronze medals for the country in the ongoing South Asian Games.
The Silver, for Pakistan, came in Pair Poomase category where Mahrunnisa and Shehbaz Ahmed, with their skillful display, secured the medal for the country. While Mehrunnisa earned a bronze in Individual Poomsae as well.
Shehbaz, Mumtaz and Mohammad Anas, who featured in Team Poomsae also claimed a bronze whereas Mehrunnisa, Iqra and Asifa clinched bronze in women team event. In pair event, Pakistan's Mumtaz and Asifa won bronze medal as well.
Shazaib Khan, in the meantime, has reached the final round in -54 KG where he will be competing against an Indian fighter.
Pakistan Taekwondo Squad includes a total of 12 fighters which namely are: Mehrun Nisa, Shabaz Ahmed, Mohammad Mumtaz, Asifa Ali, Muhammad Waseem Javed, Syeda Aleena Batool, Sophiya Nayab Baig, Phool Zaheer, Iqra Zaheer, Muhammad Anas, Wajeeh Ul Hassar and Muhammad Hizer Khan.
The 13th South Asian Games, a biennial multi-sport event held among the athletes from South Asia, is featuring a total of 27 sports among which Pakistani athletes are participates in 20 of them.
